Biofeedback training with a learning disabled child.

چکیده
Biofeedback training was used to increase a learning disabled child's ability to control his breathing patterns. The procedure was most effective when the child was permitted to explore freely the correlations between his respiratory movements and feedback from the apparatus. Probe trials showed that increased external and self-directed control over the direction and volume of breathing was achieved. Results were discussed in terms of the relationship between biofeedback technology and learning and behavior problems.

EEG sensorimotor rhythm biofeedback training: some effects on the neurologic precursors of learning disabilities.
This study presents a clinical treatment regime for pathological interhemispheric dysfunction with respect to a population of learning disabled boys. The results obtained replicate and extend earlier findings with respect to operantly conditioned increases in amplitude of sensorimotor transactions and its positive effect on learning disability. Specifically, the biofeedback, and subsequent cond...

This paper presents Wechsler (WISC-R) profiles and changes following the application of an EEG biofeedback treatment regimen for brain-based learning disabilities. EEG biofeedback trained increases in activation (increased amplitude of 14Hz brainwave energy) of the central and sensorimotor cortex's neural activation network resulted in increases in bi-hemispheric skills (complementary verbal-ex...
متن کاملEEG biofeedback and relaxation training in the control of epileptic seizures.
Research utilizing sensorimotor rhythm (SMR) biofeedback with epileptics suggests that it is useful in decreasing seizures. Subjects were 6 young adults with a diagnosis of epilepsy of at least two years who had been unable to control their seizures with different regimens of anticonvulsant medications. Subjects ranged from severely mentally handicapped to above average functioning. Seizure typ...

متن کاملPerceptual responses to infant crying after EEG biofeedback assisted stress management training: implications for physical child abuse.
The adult's perception of infant crying determines whether it is a source of stress and may be an antecedent to physical child abuse. The study had clients listen to infant crying and used stress management training to change their perceived arousal, anxiety, and evaluation of the crying. Fifteen nonparental female clients were randomly assigned to three groups who either had pretraining withou...
